John Herrick the Chairman of the
Poacher Organisers posted this message post Poacher 2004
The Greatest Show On Earth
Smiles, laughter, new friends, loads of fun, politeness, the very best
inScouting and Guiding and a few tears.
For me these words sum up memories of a fantastic Poacher 2004. It has
been a huge privilege for me to be chairman of Poacher. I hope that not too
many 'Poacher' campers realised that a massive amount of work had gone on over
more than three years and continued throughout the entire camp to make certain
we all had the very best Poacher had to offer. The management committee gave
every thing they could and in turn gave me full
confidence in their ability to overcome any and all challenges (yes including
showers and toilets). The committee did a fantastic job. As for the Camp
Chiefs, Pat and Beech were truly mega-stars.
Please spare a thought too for all those people with a smile working
tirelessly 'off stage' and in the background in every aspect of Poacher,
many of who have not received the credits they justly deserve. All I
can say is bravo and take a curtain call. I know each of these 'unsung
heroes and heroines' did a superb job and have special memories of a great
time.
You should be proud of your part in The Greatest Show on Earth! Hold on
to these memories. They are priceless.
Finally, to all the scouts, guides and beavers/cubs/brownies who
thoroughly enjoyed the Taster Days, a massive Thank You. From "Lights, Camera,
Action!" to "Its a Wrap!", you were Stars.
Now we wait for the sequel.......
