Management Restructuring
The CEX’s report 289 set out the initial first
phase of the restructuring. This did away with the corporate directors posts
and set out a move to a strategic director and corporate head structure. The
first phase was estimated to require additional costs which were estimated at
£300k per annum and a one off costs of £150k. This was approved.
During this phase the cmt (
IY, JB, SM, JP, NG, CS) was removed and 3 new director posts
created. Of the 6 employees 1 took retirement within the councils existing
scheme, 3 became re-employed and one left with an early pension release which
required official approval. The early retirement and release of pension
amounted to £254k.
As the second phase approached ie at service
manager levels there was a need to estimate the likely costs to undertake this
further restructuring. These were estimated at £700k and Council approved a
supplementary budget for this purpose in May of this year.
The costs associated against that estimate are as follows:-
Red and capital costs of pensions £371k
Advert
etc
£ 78k
Total
£449k
Further to the above there is the potential for one more casualty
associated with the restructuring of £24k making a total spend of £473 against
a £700k planned budget (£227 under)
It is also important to note some other employment costs not directly
associated with the restructuring which we are required to spend. They are the
release of area office cash staff due to the outsourcing of cash payments to
all pay. These amount to £55k although re-employment opportunities are still be followed. And a

Hi again Darling,
I have spent a bit of time getting the blog to be on the new poacher site.
If you use Google and go POACHER you will get to Poacher 2008 and on the front page at the end of the post
code BB there are 4 squares that you
cant see that if you click on will take you to the new area.
Love you and will show in person if you haven’t worked
it out by the time I get there,
TC..
Hi my Darling,
I am back from Morrisons,
well I have to be or you would not be getting this. Doing this quickly as I am
going to have a bath as I am as stiff as a board. Something to do with
grovelling around on the floor fixing Sat nav into Pauls car so it could not be seen.
What with that, he said it would be a 10 minute job,
but I knew better, and then last night he decided tio
use my laminator and when I got to him he was muttering violently that it was
not working,( hey I have had it for 10 years)
never a problem, when I took it apart I find that he had put some card
through and gummed it all up, got that cleared and then it packs up and he
switched it back on and burnt a hole ( well seared) a hole in the landing
carpet. So I spent an hour trying to
sort that out, anyway its in the garage
now and I will have a go this weekend, I
wouldn’t mind but the replacement is about 160, OK you can get smaller and
lighter duty ones but I wanted my good quality one. Still I will see over the weekend.
Not been a good time all round, but tomorrow it all
starts to get better!!!!
Oh I was going to write something in the diary for
tomorrow but P said at dinnertime that I was going into Grantham tomorrow so no
need to do anything!!
Just had Reg Lovelock on the
phone for 45 mins, don’t know what he was talking
about really but he wanted to know what I was going to lead on on the budget , well I did not know I was kleading on it till I just looked on the agenda!! Good old Linda. Still don’t know what reg
was ringing about. I suppose he is
worrying about his vice chairmanship!!??
Do you know that the holidays apart from my apparent
grumbles was made passable by the seeing you in the middle. So with kind thoughts like that I will close and go and get my
bath. Remember I love you and look
forwards to seeing you in the morning. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Hi
Darling,
Well
now got the full brood here. P and A arrived at 3 and I sent Amanda off to bed
at 4 with Thomas so that he can stay up this evening without getting bad
tempered, just like the old times. Bed Amanda !! echoing round the house
By
the time you read this it will no doubt be the new year
so heres wishing you and us a happy and prosperous
2007. I hope that includes the election
as well as that would be the worst disaster of the lot if I did not get re
elected, second only to you getting fed
up with me and my ways!. ( that may well be
weighs!!) a
rather heavy pun I fear.
Spent
the day trying to get the PC of mine that they broke running, its all OK now
but having trouble with the broadband, some times it runs and other times it
wont, cant track it down and it is so frustrating!!, never mind I will
persevere.
Still
sticking to the diet and despite all the good things in the fridge and around I
only had soup at dinner time, mind you
tonight will not be so good but I will be moderate as it will be easier to get
it off if I don’t stuff myself,.
Surprisingly I am not needing to eat as much at meals, and as long as I
continue you may soon get your thighs round me and not get cramp, now there is a stirring thought! No I suppose a rousing thought would be with you and I in a shower
trying it!!
Just
had tea, a small sausage roll and cup of tea as we are not eating till 9 , I don’t think I could last that long without anything.
Glad that your Motheres
carers are in
place even if a bit late, but I think that
one has to make a few allowances for the season BUT they should tell their customers, but as your mother has been in
and out I can understand the problems, and its not as though she is not able to
do bits for herself, well she did say to
you the other day that she had made a cup of tea., not sure that you agreed
that she had though.
I
know it is a pain to have to be there on Tuesday and Wednesday when he is there
as well, I just feel that it is taking a
bit of a lend, not my place to say so
but if it becomes onerous for you I do think you have to say, never mind it keeps you out of the house at
any rate but I do notice that you look a bit tire at times, don’t think I could cope with Thomas 2 days a
week in total charge, he does not get
‘it’ over me but I am pushed sometimes not to loose my paddy still that is what being a grandparent is all
about!1.
Thanks
for reminding me about Mike and Jeans Do I will
get my response in and hopefully I will convince her that it is best as
a solo do, I will make the point that its 100s of Grantham folk and the
conservative hierarchy that should turn
her off!!.
I
have to get all the dates in my diary as I have not done that yet, I have got
them together but I need to get it in the book,
need to do that when P and A are not here to make comments about how
much I am going out. It is beginning to
bug me some of the comments
like ringing at 8.30 on a Monday on my mobile and asking if I
have not left yet.
Hey
enough of this I need a bit of a soothing cuddle to stop me thinking negative
thoughts, but like you I can think that its only 4 days till we meet again. ( just got your e mail!!)
Anyway
darling love
you and have too go and be social. Thinking of you constantly. Xxxxxx Your TC. xxxx
Hi Darling,
Quiet
day today, went shopping around dinner time Surprise Surprise
!! It was only to Morrisons
and the three of us had soup, so that was OK. Then went to M and S and got nibble;es in for new years day when Amanda is having friendas round here to see them. ( Now
come on my house, my nibbles her friends,
I wonder what went wrong. Oh yes
a joint of Pork was bought foe new years day, £15 be interesting to see if / how it gets
cooked.( or even who does it) I did ring
Amanda and say that we our out on the night of 31st and bhaving a big meal do we need full roast lunch at mid day the next
day, the answer I go was that irt was my choice, not the cost it’s the sheer volume of
food, I did ensyure
that the nibbles we got had a lot of
carrots, cauliflower etc so I can be a good boy.
I
am sure your hair looks divine, I have to say that as I will get real problems
if I don’t notice it when we meet, I
suppose I had better put a notice in my car just to be sure!!
Oh
yes I will have my nail varnish in my briefcase so you can do your nails up as
it does make a big difference, in fact it makes them hard to file down!
Do
you think that he will wear the change of cooker, I am sure he has said that he
will fix the thermostat in your existing one?
I
spent the afternoon surfing the net looking at airfields and then at Radio
Equipment, I
had not realised how much technology had changed during my electronics career,
surprisingly enough I am not as far out of date as one would think, well I cant
be can I if Park Air wanted me to go and work for them again in the last
year. Its funny I was glad in some ways
to have to turn that job down as I am sure I would have got into the long days
and shifts routine and
why would I be doing it , for the pride of being able to do it not the money
and having to prove that I am a better man than the next man. ( I caused a bit of a problem last time I was
there as the standard rate for commissioning the new radios was 5.6 a day I was
knocking out 8.2, they even sent someone from QC to check I was doing it
properly, fully automated test system
and I would make sure it was running over tea break and dinner time and as the
test system was working I would fault find and prepare the next radio, to me it was totally logical, I did knock up a few aids to let me do things
easier which are still done with my bits
I just could not do it by the clock as they were supposed to do it. Downing tools at tea break on the second is
not on so I
would stop at about the time and adjust time accordingly, I was challenged one
day by the production Director and I think I said something like as a
contractor I will do it as I want to or not at all, he was quick to cover up , as long as you
don’t break the rules you have to be allowed a bit of bending.
Whilst
down town went up Brownes clock tower and stopped the
pendulum for 12 minutes so it will be on time new years eve, but up and down
that tower is a
long climb, all the more so as there is no hand rail on either side, and coming
down is a nightmare, in as much as you don’t want to come down to fast. I am going to make sure that I put a rope in
the car that I can then put in there so I have something to hold on to. Remind
me to show you it is a problem. Mind you
I will have to give you a duster as talk about cobwebs!!!
Surprised that there were no complaints about the
clock being over 10 minutes out.
One wonders if folk don’t notice or they don’t know who to complain
to. Mind you the first to complain will
be asked if they want to do it!!
Anyway
my darling I am having to go to tea so with all my lova and kisses. Will write tomorrow.
Your
TC xxxxx
